# mail

> Reference for the mail tool: create and edit application e-mail drafts and ask for approval. There is no send action.

Source: https://careers.geenius.io/docs/reference/mail/

Agents create and edit drafts and ask for approval. Only the person can approve, and every send is delayed and kept inside the recipient's business hours. There is no send action.

Call it as `geenius_careers(tool: "mail", action: "<action>", args: {...})` through Geenius OS.

## Actions

| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| `draft_create` | A new application e-mail for a posting, or a threaded reply. Without a body, Careers drafts it from the tailored letter in the person's tone. Returns the draft and the person's example e-mails so you can rewrite it. |
| `draft_update` | Edit a draft: to, subject, body, version, attach_letter. Only drafts can be edited; a scheduled e-mail must be cancelled by the person first. Every edit invalidates a pending approval screen, so the person always approves what they read. |
| `request_approval` | Ask the person to approve a draft, with an optional one-line note. It shows as Waiting for you in their Outbox. This does not send anything. |
| `list` | Messages, newest first: drafts, scheduled (with send time), sent, failed and received. |
| `thread_get` | One conversation with every message in order, inbound replies included. |

## Arguments we have checked

### mail · draft_create

A new application e-mail for a posting, or a threaded reply. Without a body, Careers drafts it from the tailored letter in the person's tone. Returns the draft and the person's example e-mails so you can rewrite it.

- `job_id`: The posting.
- `thread_id`: Reply in this thread instead.

- `attach_letter`: Also attach the cover letter PDF.
- `request_approval`: Ask the person to approve this draft now.
- `approval_note`: One line for the person.
- `lang`: en, de or nl. Default: the language of the tailored letter.

### mail · draft_update

Edit a draft: to, subject, body, version, attach_letter. Only drafts can be edited; a scheduled e-mail must be cancelled by the person first. Every edit invalidates a pending approval screen, so the person always approves what they read.

- `message_id` (required): The draft.

### mail · request_approval

Ask the person to approve a draft, with an optional one-line note. It shows as Waiting for you in their Outbox. This does not send anything.

- `message_id` (required): The draft.
- `note`: One line for the person.

### mail · list

Messages, newest first: drafts, scheduled (with send time), sent, failed and received.

- `job_id`: Filter by posting.
- `state`: draft, scheduled, sending, sent, failed or received.
- `limit`: How many.

### mail · thread_get

One conversation with every message in order, inbound replies included.

- `thread_id`: The thread.
- `message_id`: Or the thread of this message.

> [!TIP]
> Ask for the exact arguments of any action with `action: "help", of: "draft_create"`. The server answers from its own definitions, so that answer is always current.

> [!HONEST]
> The actions send, approve, send_now, schedule and approve_send do not exist, and the door refuses them by name.
